5 Tips For Maintaining Your Washing Machine

Depending on how often your washing machine is used, you should generally make sure to clean your washing machine every 2 weeks to a month, inside and out.

Run The Machine Empty And Add A Quart Of White Vinegar

Vinegar is a great tool for cleaning and disinfecting many day to day objects, and it tends to be less harsh than bleach. Run a regular cycle on the highest load size, hottest water setting, and longest wash, and include some vinegar to clean the machine. Remove Any Removable Parts And Clean Them Separately

You can remove things like the agitators and detergent wells and clean/soak them separately. It is a good idea to scrub them down to remove any built up scum.

Don’t Forget To Clean The Outside Of The Machine

Wipe down the outside and sides of the machine using a vinegar solution or disinfectant.

Load Your Washing Machine Evenly

While you are loading clothes or linens in your washing machine, make sure to alternate between small and large items. An unbalanced load can damage your machine. It’s also a good idea not to run heavy items like blankets on their own; make sure to include some smaller items as well

Leave The Lid Open In Between Uses

Washing machines can trap mold and mildew. Make sure that you are providing the inside of the machine with enough ventilation to dry out and avoid excess moisture.
